Your birthright is to feel at home in your body. You are born to shake your joints with glee, belly laugh with vigor, and strut your stuff with confidence. You have the capacity to breathe three-dimensionally, walk with a swing in your hips, allow your shoulders to glide on your back, and experience your head floating on your neck.  You are able to stomp your feet, flail your arms, and release your weight into the earth. LIVING ROOM DANCE PARTY™

 

Looking for something new and fun?  Wanting to shake up the social routine?  Worried about how you look dancing?  Don’t know where to go dancing?  STAY HOME and host a Living Room Dance Party™ for you and 6 (or more) of your friends.  Learn simple dance steps in a non-judgmental atmosphere with music to get your groove on.  A 3-hour event half guided instruction and half do-your-own-thing with your own personal DJ.

Mission: An innovative dance program that shows everyone how to move their body naturally to experience enhanced fitness, fluidity, and freedom.

 

Freestyle Dance Fitness™ makes the experience of dance accessible to every body.  It is a fun, supportive, and inspiring dance program designed for any size, shape, age, and fitness level.  Freestyle Dance Fitness™ is based on the body’s natural design and expressed in these 3 principles:

 

  1. Your birthright is to move;
  2. Your body is more fluid than solid; and
  3. Your process is to remember how.

 

Learning Objectives

This experiential program focuses on showing participants what their body already knows how to do.  Participants will:

 

  • Understand the secret of being able to dance anywhere, anytime
  • Learn easy dance steps to inspiring music and receive attentive instruction
  • Be introduced to basic anatomy to facilitate moving from the inside out
  • Feel empowered to create their own dances with the language of movement
  • Have FUN!

Unique Aspects of Freestyle Dance Fitness™

Freestyle Dance Fitness™ is different than related dance/movement programs in these ways:

 

  1. The emphasis is on the body’s natural design of fluidity; our bodies are more fluid than solid. This facilitates the process of remembering what the body already knows how to do.  For example, participants are reminded of how to move their body like when they were children and before they “forgot” all the ways they could dance freely and without inhibition.

 

  1. Participants learn the basic building blocks of dance – movement vocabulary – which results in being able to dance independently.  This knowledge encourages dancing from the heart and spirit, rather than memorizing steps or relying completely on a teacher. 

 

  1. Participants learn basic anatomy, so that instead of experiencing their body as two-dimensional, participants are taught simple internal landmarks to refer to as they dance.  This strengthens the three-dimensional experience of their body, stimulates their brain, and further enhances the feeling of dancing from the “inside out.”

o        Freestyle Dance Fitness™ Continuing I Workshop: 3 Hours

o        Freestyle Dance Fitness™ Continuing II Workshop: 3 Hours

o        Freestyle Dance Fitness™ Continuing III Workshop: 3 Hours

The Introductory Workshop is a pre-requisite of all other workshops.  Continuing I, II, and III Workshops are not progressive; each teaches you a new set of movements, so that you can take them to a dance floor anytime, anywhere.

 

Ÿ         Participate in ongoing classes and monthly “Freestyle Dance Party” Events
