"I love to dance!"
You will experience some familiar and perhaps new ways of moving, boogie to a wide variety of musical styles, tap into your creative impulses, feel your spirit soar, and potentially expand your CD collection tri-fold and need to purchase one of those really big CD bookshelves. There is no right or wrong way to move (except for proper and safe body mechanics) and the comparison of one¡¯s turnout, leg elevation, size, shape, or form of anything is strongly discouraged.
"I haven't danced in ages, miss it terribly, and am not sure if. . ."
A participant from one of my classes a few years ago called and told me she was interested, but had not danced since she was 5 years old. She loved this class! If you can relate, you will have lots of opportunties to re-connect with that dancer within, breathe in the pleasure of being alive, feel the pure joy of moving freely in your body, and remember that, yes, you have still got it!
"I like to move, but I feel like I have '2 left feet.'"
Not to worry. Right and left does not matter too much in this class. If you are willing to let go of expectations of what a "dancer" is supposed to look like and are open to something new and different, you will fit right in. You will tune in to the music, and most importantly, yourself, and discover that you are indeed a mover and shaker, just like everyone on this planet.
"I am looking for a new form of exercise, where I can have fun."
This class is for you! I personally dislike (to put it mildly) movement experiences that are very repetitive, go only on one or two directions, and where I find myself thinking about my to-do list when I am intending to be in my body. You will have fun, not to mention improve your strength, stamina, muscle tone, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness; increase your breath awareness and concentration; and release tension, stress, and anything else you do not need anymore.
